Prager Family History

Jim Prager was born in Whittier, California. He was raised in Santa Ana when it was strictly agricultural land filled with orange groves and strawberry and bean fields. As a youngster he had ambitions spurring him towards a career as a veterinarian, but after his first year at Marquette University he changed his mind, and shortly thereafter he joined the Navy. After graduating from USC, he and Imogene were married, and he received his license as an insurance broker, a profession he happily followed until, as he says; “on New Year’s Eve, 1974, I had a severe attack of mid-life crisis, I got the thought that it probably would be cheaper to make my own wine than buy it. That thought, of course, turned out to be absolutely wrong. more
